Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley BackPack Program
- In the Mahoning Valley, 29,656 children live in poverty.
- In some of our local school districts, 80-90% of the children are eligible for free and/or reduced meal programs.
The BackPack Program is a national program of Feeding America™. The program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Backpacks are filled with child-friendly, non-perishable, easily-consumed and vitamin-fortified food. Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley currently operates three BackPack Programs in the Mahoning Valley.
- Each Friday during the school year, the Food Bank supplies 300 children in our community with food to eat over the weekend.

MESSAGE FROM THE MFHC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ATTY. R. ALLEN SINCLAIR The Midlothian Free Health Clinic (MFHC) began as a health outreach ministry in 2005. Recognizing the need for increased access to quality healthcare among the uninsured residents of Youngstown and area suburbs, a group of nurses from Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Youngstown and Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers, began the process of organizing a clinic. Our Clinic opened its doors to patients on March 27, 2008 under the medical direction of Thomas E. Albani, Jr., M.D. Medical Director.
Our Clinic offers primary, preventative, and educational health care to individuals between the ages of 18 and 64, and whose household income is within 200% of the federal poverty level. Services provided are absolutely free to individuals without health insurance coverage.
