Membership in the Mahoning County
Medical Society is open to any physician who is licensed by the Ohio
State Medical Board to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine, is
of good moral and professional standing, and who is a resident of or
conducts most of his or her practice in Mahoning County.
Any physician who is enrolled in an
approved internship, residency, or fellowship program is eligible
for member-in-training membership.
Physicians who have been active
members of the medical society and who are not in active practice by
reason of retirement may apply for retired membership. Retired
members may not receive regular income from activity related to the
practice of medicine. Physicians who have been active members for
more than five years and work in any medical related field for less
than 20 hours a week are eligible for semi-retired membership. Both
retired and semi-retired members have the right to vote and hold
office.
Membership in the Ohio State Medical
Association is mandatory. Membership in the American Medical
Association is not mandatory but recommended. Physicians interested
in becoming members may complete the Membership Application and
return it to the society by mail or fax.
